Robert Bruce, President 1981–2001. President Bruce oversees a major expansion of graduate programs and tremendous growth in the physical plant. New buildings include Academic Center North, Lathem Hall, Cottee Hall, and University Center. The School of Law undergoes significant expansion. University Council, a new shared governance model for faculty and administration, is also developed.
