About this collection

This exhibit highlights some of the notable, courageous trailblazers who broke ethnic and racial barriers, bringing diversity to our campus. The late 19th century saw an influx of international students, and in 1954 the first African American students arrived. Diversity on today’s campus has flourished out of the courage of these original trailblazers. This exhibit includes links to a number of Oral History Videos that enable the viewer to listen to the experiences of these trailblazers in their own words.  The complete set of these videos can be found on the Widener University Archives YouTube Channel.  The exhibit was created by Jan Alexander and Justin Jackson.
